My final conversation with Mr. Tritchew was at his home during the Farewell ceremony for RCBHS. Being one of his high school students during the early 1960’s, we spoke of those old times and the importance of teachers today. Afterall, I had become a teacher because of him. For the sake of brevity, I will paraphrase his words and thoughts during our discussion.
“We are entrusted with the betterment of the lives of our students. We have them for only a brief time. Many come from disadvantaged environments. We as educators must make the right things happen in their lives as best we can. Fairness is vital. Students will remember who was fair to them and who was not far longer than the subject matter that we teach. A moral compass is essential, and it is a very delicate thing. Students will take with them the qualities we display.”
It is interesting to note that I never received high grades in the subjects that Mr. Tritchew taught, but he is one of the reasons that I became a teacher. Tritch touched all of our lives in a special way. Thanks for caring about us!

Please accept my condolences on the loss of "Tritch". Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School was a great place to teach, and "Tritch" was certainly one of the primary reasons for this. I will always remember my time there with "Tritch" at the helm with great fondness.

Mrs. Tritchew, Steve, Sophia, Helena,
It is with great sadness that I have learned that your husband and father has passed away.....but it is with a warm heart that I remember how Tritch cared for every person, teacher and student he met. I still live my life based on the first principles he taught in math class and the respect for individuality he demonstrated in the hallways. I graduated from Ridgeway High in 76 and I feel very fortunate that Tritch was my Principle. Please take comfort in knowing that his energetic spirit will have a positive influence for many generations.

Tritch was the consummate educator. Anyone fortunate enough to have been his student or overseen by his masterfully scrutinous administrative eye at RCBHS knows full well the impact this man had on many young persons' formative years. Mr. Tritchew was truly a principal who acted on principle at all times. Great memories. I'd like to join the many who are grateful to have known him. God's blessings and comfort to all family, close friends, and associates.

Mr. Tritchew was my principal at RCBHS back in 1976, 1977 and part of 1978. Although I wasn’t there very long, he made me feel very welcome. He was a great man. He will be missed.
