May 8, 1925 – September 26, 2019

Peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness, Shirley passed away at the age of 94. Loving mother of sons Fred (Ling) and David (Shona). Pre deceased by her wonderful daughter Roseanna. Being very civic minded, Shirl was involved in many community associations and projects. The PTA and the “Brown Water Situation” which resulted in the replacement of aging water and sewer systems, thereby insuring clean water for many. Lately Shirl had championed the continued restoration of the Point Albino Lighthouse. She was also the President of the Friends of Crystal Beach, which has proved to be a guardian of our town’s iconic past and future. Shirl will be sadly missed by many friends who could always be assured of her help and support. The family wishes to thank Dr. Che and the staff of the palliative care unit at Douglas Memorial Hospital. As per Shirley’s wishes, there will be no service. She has chosen to take one final journey back to her home in Yarmouth Nova Scotia, where she will be laid to rest in her family’s plot.  If desired, donations in Shirley’s Memory may be made to the Friends of Crystal Beach.  Williams Funeral Services have been entrusted with arrangements.
